Harvard Employees Take the Plunge in Support of Drop Zone

Harvard Developments employees Lauretta Beliveau and Danielle Kuffner channelled their inner superhero in support of Camp Easter Seals Drop Zone which took place on August 24. Camp Easter Seals is an organization committed to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities. Drop Zone participants had the opportunity to raise funds in support of this worthy cause. Those who achieved their fundraising goal got the opportunity to rappel down the 21 storey, Regina landmark, Hill Centre II. Beliveau commented, “Camp Easter Seals is a charity close to my heart, my sister Paulette passed away ten years ago at the age of 39.” Diagnosed with cerebral palsy, she attended Camp Easter Seals in her late 20’s. “Looking back, the camp created fabulous summers for her and gave remarkable individuals the opportunity to come together.” said Lauretta.  Danielle Kuffner is also an avid supporter. “Camp Easter Seals offers a service that is essential to our community, providing youth with disabilities the opportunity to generate friendships and realize their potential is very important.” said Danielle.

Rappelling from Hill Centre II was a challenge that tested both of their personal limits. Noting that stepping off of the roof was the most difficult part. Danielle stated, “The drop definitely challenges your personal limits, both Lauretta and I had a blast and would recommend taking part next year.” Together Danielle and Lauretta raised a total of $ 1,997.50 in funds.

This year’s event raised a grand total of $120,000. Harvard Developments Inc. and its Downtown Building Partners are proud supporters of Camp Easter Seals Drop Zone and offered the use of Hill Centre II as the event rappel site.
