Harvard Developments Unveils 'The Landing' at Grasslands

Harvard Developments officially unveiled ‘The Landing’ at Grasslands, a vibrant new community plaza in the heart of its Grasslands shopping centre in Southwest Regina. The 20,000 square foot modern amenity was formally introduced at a grand opening event this afternoon and was attended by local and national retailers as well as representatives from the Province of Saskatchewan and City of Regina.

Located in the Southwest corner of the retail site, ‘The Landing’ at Grasslands is a modern landscaped plaza that is designed to become a community gathering hub for residents and visitors of the mixed-use property. With a natural combination of greenery, walkway connections and seating areas, The Landing offers a one-of-a-kind experience not normally found in a shopping center. At the centre of the plaza, iconic illuminated grass-blade art structures have been erected that serve as the focal point of the property and symbolize the project’s roots of togetherness and community. “The vision for ‘The Landing’ was to create a contemporary and welcoming space that connects leisure, shopping, and entertainment” said Angela Lockhart, Marketing Manager for Harvard Property Management. “It’s truly an incredible amenity to have within our shopping centre and we look forward to working with our retailers, community partners, and guests to cultivate unique programming throughout the year.”

Grasslands is a master planned 1,000,000 square foot commercial site in southwest Regina and is centrally located within the residential development known as Harbour Landing. Having broken ground in the spring of 2010, the development has seen rapid growth over the years and has been proud to welcome several new-to-market retailers including Walmart SuperCentre, Lowe’s, Marshalls, Bed Bath & Beyond, Cabela’s and many more. Today, the development is home to over 70 local and national retailers forming a diverse range of dining, entertainment and shopping destinations.

“This is an important day for our company, our city, and our province, as the completion of ‘The Landing’ marks an incredible decade of growth and prosperity and serves as a great reminder of how far we’ve come ” noted Rosanne Hill Blaisdell, Managing Director of Harvard Buildings for Harvard Developments. “When we first began this project only eight short years ago, this entire area was farmland as far as the eye can see. Now, as we gather here today, we are surrounded by over 70 thriving businesses (more than 20 of which are new to Regina), over 2,500 new jobs created, and 14,000+ residents. We are proud of what this site has grown into, and the completion of ‘The Landing’ is another chapter in the project’s success story.”
