Grasslands takes pride in giving back to the community, especially when it means supporting organizations making a real impact. That’s why the team is proud to partner with The Street Culture Project (SCP), a Regina-based nonprofit dedicated to creating safe spaces where vulnerable youth can thrive, build brighter futures, and improve their quality of life.
In November, Grasslands chose to forgo the usual tenant Christmas gifts and instead made a donation to SCP on behalf of its Saskatchewan retail tenants. Instead, the donation went directly toward gifts and meals, creating a Christmas many of them won’t forget.
"After the holidays, we connected with SCP’s CEO, Jeff Dudar, to talk about other ways we could support their work," said Krista BeBeau, Senior Shopping Centre Manager at Grasslands. "One program that really stood out was their Construction Services — a social enterprise providing residential and commercial construction work, all while offering mentorship and hands-on experience to youth."
During those conversations, SCP shared that one of their goals for the year was to add two trucks to their fleet to support their growing construction services. As luck would have it, Grasslands was in the process of retiring a 2012 Chevy truck — a perfect opportunity to help. Instead of trading it in, Grasslands donated the truck to SCP’s Construction Services team, giving them another tool to continue creating opportunities for local youth.
"We’re excited to keep this partnership going and look forward to seeing their team in action on future projects at our properties," continues Krista. "It’s a win-win — providing real-world experience while supporting an organization doing incredible work right here in our community."
