Alberta HSE and Property Management Teams Receive AASP Certificate of Recognition

The Alberta Property Management and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams are celebrating after receiving a Certificate of Recognition from the Alberta Association of Safety Partnerships (AASP).

This recognition comes after the AASP performed an external audit of Harvard’s Alberta properties in November. All aspects of the HSE program were evaluated, from the Executive Statement to in-field inspections. Harvard’s extensive HSE procedures were also examined and verified through document reviews.

“In total, the entire review usually takes about a week to complete,” says Andrew Soto, HSE Manager with Harvard Developments. “During that week, the auditor reviews our safety documents, conducts interviews, and performs site inspections and observations. After those are done, they write a report and submit it to AASP for quality control. That usually takes another 30 days.”

These external audits occur every three years, with Alberta's team being responsible for performing their own internal audits to submit to a certifying partner between these occasions.

While the official results have yet to be shared, Andrew says the initial findings are excellent, and the team achieved 90% or above in 9/10 elements.

“The results show the hard work and dedication of the various teams around Alberta and the HSE team for developing the program. Chris Burrell, Renee Quevillon, Merle Morrisseau, and I make up the HSE team. Each property management team is individually responsible for their portfolio, and now Tony Prsa is responsible for our company's overall health and safety. I’m incredibly proud of our teams and their year-round effort.”
