$920K Federal Investment Energizes Gordon Block Revitalization in Downtown Regina

Harvard Developments is excited to announce a major federal investment set to accelerate the transformation of the Gordon Block site in downtown Regina. Through Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan), the project has received $920,000 in funding over the next three years, which will support the continued development of The Skuare, a dynamic interim-use space designed to bring new energy, culture, and community life to the city’s core.

The Skuare is a multi-phase initiative led by the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District (RDBID), in partnership with Harvard Developments and the City of Regina. Located just off Pat Fiacco Plaza and Victoria Park, the project aims to activate the Gordon Block property by creating a flexible, welcoming space that brings new life to the downtown core.

“As long-time investors in our downtown core, we’re proud to support this imaginative project and grateful for the City and Federal Government’s meaningful investment,” said Rosanne Hill Blaisdell, President and CEO of Harvard Developments. “The Skuare is a bold reflection of the growing momentum in downtown Regina. Together, we’re excited to create a space that celebrates local culture, builds community, and adds vibrancy to the heart of our city.”

The funding announcement featured words from Mayor Chad Bachynski, Judith Veresuk of RDBID, and Kenric Exner of Harvard Developments, along with a video message from the Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister for PrairiesCan.

“This isn’t just about a single project, it’s about what’s possible when public and private sectors come together with a shared vision,” said Kenric Exner, Vice President of Corporate Services at Harvard Developments. “We’ve called downtown Regina home for over 120 years, and we’ve never stopped believing in its potential. The Skuare represents a renewed sense of pride and possibility for our city’s core, and we’re thrilled to be part of it.”

With this new federal support, the Gordon Block project is ready to move into its next phase of development. Harvard Developments looks forward to continuing its work with local partners to help deliver a space that reflects the energy, creativity, and potential of downtown Regina.
